Principal's Message
Principal’s Message
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself to you. I am Mrs. Storer, the new principal at Riego Creek Elementary School, and I am beyond excited to join the Riego Creek community.
My family and I moved to Lincoln this summer from the Bay Area. My husband, Kory, and I have two little girls, Camryn (3.5 years old) and Peyton (2 years old), as well as our dog, Theo. So far, we are enjoying exploring our new neighborhood and playing outside together as a family! We could not be happier with our choice of making a change and moving! The outdoor opportunities here are endless and we cannot wait to watch our girls grow up in such a beautiful area.
Professionally, I was most recently an elementary school principal with the Brisbane School District for the past five years. I was born and raised in Brisbane, so becoming the principal of my old elementary school was truly a full circle experience for me. Before that I taught 8th Grade Language Arts and Social Studies for five years. Then, prior to teaching 8th grade, I taught a middle school (6th-8th) moderate/severe special day class.
I am honored to have the opportunity to be a part of your child’s educational journey as their elementary school principal. Please know that my door is always open, so feel free to stop by to say “hello”, offer a suggestion, or share a concern. Together, I hope to partner with you to make Riego a safe and nurturing place for all learners.
This school year, we are working on building relationships, strengthening our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), as well as deepening our social/emotional and behavioral strategies. In addition to this, we will continue to challenge and push kids to their fullest potential academically.
Riego Creek is a Restorative Practice school. Restorative practices
- Builds community
- Promotes healthy relationships among educators and students
- Turns behavior into learning opportunities
- Encourages growth towards accepting responsibility and repairing harm in the community
- Improves school climate, increases academic achievement and reduces disparities in school discipline and achievement
- Is a mindset, not a program that is followed. It’s what we believe, how we act, and how we speak.
As we step into a new school year at Riego, I am filled with excitement and anticipation for the journey ahead! To all the families who have been a part of the Riego community, thank you for your ongoing contributions that make our school exceptional. Welcome back! To all our new families, a warm and heartfelt welcome to the Riego family.
Please know that our staff is committed to providing an educational experience where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Let’s embrace this school year with enthusiasm and positivity, confident that it will be a year filled with growth, learning, and memorable experiences for all.
